What I'm working on:

I feel hazy. This year feels like a dream. There is privilege in the overwhelm.

It seems simple. An insignificant digital gesture. A gentle holding back and leaving space in the wake up an uprising against a long standing system that is leaving people broken, burning and bruised. But to scroll through an image feed, usually so rich with vibrant and diverse artwork, the solidarity is palpable and loud. I cannot know what it is to be in the shoes of even one black life. My daily haze of 2020 heaviness is such a short and mild discomfort when held up to all the lives spent fighting, spent fearful and cut short. We need to know better, to do better, to put in the work.

Some of these tiny circus performers I've been using were cut out during yesterday's @collageshindig zoom meeting while the chosen portrait of #artoriagibbons stared me down from my cut pile. I printed her image much larger than the quality or my usual cuts allow for, but I do plan to work with her image in some way... soon... #collageshindig

Thanks again for organizing another zoom collage meet up, @stitchpixie ! Was nice to (silently) meet new artists and see so many faces behind the awesome work you all do... And to have company while cutting out tiny people and snuggling my tiny human ✂👶❤
